The new Alloa Academy school building is now nearly finished.

Over the next few weeks, contractors will be working longer hours than usual on the site to prepare the building for the handover to Clackmannanshire Council. As a result, observers may see people on the site and lights on in the building until well into the late evening.

The Council expects to move in to the building over four days, from Tuesday 6 January 2009. From Monday 12 January, pupils will start attending the new school.

The Council has asked contractors to notify residents living near to the new school of the current working hours and the planned opening date.

Council Chief Executive Dave Jones said: "It's exciting to see the finishing touches being put on the first of Clackmannanshire's three new secondary schools. We'd like to thank the school's neighbours for their patience during the construction of this state-of-the-art educational facility, which will give Alloa's young people the ideal surroundings in which to learn."
