Airth residents will soon get a chance to see what plans are being put forward for the restoration of Mercat Cross.
Residents can drop by at any time to see the display boards at Airth Community Centre from today up to Tuesday 21 October. The boards will be displayed in the foyer but if the Centre is closed the plans can still be seen in the window of the Community Centre.
A public exhibition that details the proposals has been arranged for Tuesday 21 October at 7pm in Airth Primary School and local residents are welcome to attend.
Falkirk Council officials and design consultants will be on hand to explain their plans to restore the historic site at an estimated cost of £400,000.
Detailed designs will be on display and have been developed following consultation with the local community and have incorporated suggestions made by the public.
If given the go-ahead the work would see an area around the Mercat Cross site pedestrianised as well as other environmental improvements.
Cllr Adrian Mahoney, Convener of Environment and Heritage said: "The site is an Ancient Monument and therefore any restoration work has to be carried out sympathetically in line with guidelines from Historic Scotland.
"We have worked closely with the working group looking at this project and we hope to be able to demonstrate that we can enhance this area in line with the village's conservation status and that local residents will appreciate the new designs.
"We hope to see a good turnout on the evening and that we can answer any questions local residents may have."
