City Building apprentice, Stephen Millar, has been voted Scotland's Federation of Master Builders Apprentice Of The Year 2008.

Stephen's award means that he now goes forward to the finals of the National Apprentice of The Year, won last year by City Building's Mark Lynch.

Stephen, 21, is an apprentice woodmachinist with RSBi (Royal Strathclyde Blind industries) which is part of the City Building empire.

George Gaffney, manager of RSBi, said: "He has an excellent attitude and shows a keenness to learn his trade."


Meanwhile Stephen, who has overcome personal difficulties, is delighted with his latest award.

He said: "The training I have been given is excellent. Winning the Scottish title is testament to that. To follow Mark Lynch and win the National title would be a great double for City Building."

Award winning for his apprenticeship talents is not new to Stephen, from Queens Park in Glasgow. He is pictured receiving a Trades House award from the Princess Royal, Princess Anne at a glittering ceremony in Trades House, Glasgow recently.

Meanwhile, another City Building trainee has picked up a prestigious award as a result of his dedication and professional approach to his training. Apprentice joiner Marcus Whyte was recognised recently as he won the Apprentice of the Year Award at the Young Scottish Minority Ethnic Awards 2008.
