Five local housing association's tenants could be asked if they want to transfer to another landlord.
Glasgow Housing Association which took over Glasgow's housing stock five years ago is seeking permission from the Scottish Housing Regulator for second stage transfer ballots in November.
Over 2,00 tenants belonging to Ardenglen, Castle Stuart, Crossview, Glasgow West and Shettleston will be asked if they want to transfer.
If approved the transition could happen in March next year.
Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon welcomed the development.
