Oregon Timber Frame Ltd has been forced to make cuts to its workforce as a result of the downturn in the housing market.

Ten workers have been made redundant but another seven jobs could be under-threat.

Ther timber company's MD John Merry said: "This strategic cost-cutting exercise will ensure a stable business model, which will allow us to expand relatively rapidly when the market returns to normal.

"The intention, going forward, is to preserve as many jobs as possible to maintain the skills we will need in the future."

Earlier in the year the company announced 37 redundancies.

Mr Merry said the company must continually review costs to remain strong and well positioned to take advantage of future opportunities.
