Around 600 jobs could be created with news an American company is in talks with the Scottish Government over buying a former plant in Fife.
California-based Zoom Diversified - a blue-chip global company - would develop domestic solar panels at the now disused Hyundai plant in Dunfermline, if talks were successful.
An announcement is due to be made regarding a funding package from the Government. Talks are said to be at a "delicate stage".
The solar powered panels, which turn sunlight into electricity, would be seen as a positive step towards a long future in an environmentally friendly field.
It has been reported the San Jose-based company could receive a multi-million pound regional selective assistant grant from the Government, if the project goes ahead.
Freescale, the owner of the site, have not yet made a formal announcement regarding the plans.
