Muir Homes has submitted two planning applications for a total of 381 new homes in Taycock, Montrose.
Muir, which is nearing completion of 112 houses on the first phase of the development of 30 hectares of agricultural land, is now seeking permission for schemes of 88 and 293 homes.
The area, bound to the south by the Brechin to Montrose road, to the east by the railway line and on the west by Taycock Burn, was first identified for residential development in the Montrose Local Plan of the 1980s.
The scheme was subsequently confirmed on the Angus Local Plans, although Montrose Community Council remain concerned about the impact on the infrastructure and local schools.
Should all the planned homes be built, a 'village' of around 500 homes will have been created.
Angus Council has specified that open space will need to be provided to serve a range of functions.
