Night-time resurfacing on the A702 just south of Mauricewood Roundabout will be carried out over eight weekday nights, starting on Tuesday 17 November and running from 17–20 November and 23–26 November 2026.
BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland's operating company, will undertake the works between 19:30 and 06:30 each night.
For safety, the A702 will be closed between the A766 Carlops Road and Bush Loan Road while the project is under way. Access will be maintained for emergency services and local traffic only.
A signed diversion suitable for trunk road traffic will operate via the A766 Carlops Road, A701 John Street, Gowkley Moss Roundabout and Bush Loan Road. This route is expected to add around 1.8 miles and approximately 10 minutes to journeys.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to advise them of the traffic management arrangements and reduce disruption where possible.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "These surfacing improvements on the A702 will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracks, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.
"It's essential for safety that we close the road while resurfacing takes place, however we'll do this at night to minimise any disruption.
"Our advice if you need to use this route during the works is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion."
