McTaggart Construction is preparing to commence work at Cleddans in Kirkintilloch, delivering 50 new Passivhaus homes for social rent on behalf of East Dunbartonshire Council. The development is being taken forward in partnership with Hub West Scotland.

Financial close has been achieved for the scheme, which is the next site within East Dunbartonshire Council's Affordable Housing Investment Programme Phase 2 (AHIP2), aimed at expanding affordable housing across the area.

All 50 properties will be built to independently certified Passivhaus standards, incorporating high levels of insulation, airtight construction and controlled ventilation to minimise energy use. For tenants, this is expected to provide warm, comfortable homes with lower running costs.

The project includes community benefits, with local jobs, apprenticeships and training opportunities to be created as work progresses.

McTaggart will work with East Dunbartonshire Council and Hub West Scotland to deliver the scheme, alongside a design team comprising Coltart Earley Architects, Carbon Futures, Dougall Baillie Associates, DWA, Hawthorn Boyle and Langmuir & Hay, with ECD Architects acting as Passivhaus Certifier.
