BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, will begin rebuilding a masonry retaining wall on the A85 beside Connel Bridge on Monday 2 November.
The wall, which supports both the A85 trunk road and the neighbouring pedestrian footway, was partially damaged by a falling tree. The project will remove the large tree and reconstruct the affected section using recovered stone, with teams also clearing litter and waste from areas accessed during the works.
Activity will take place between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, with completion expected by Friday 20 November, subject to weather and access constraints.
To protect workers and road users, a single-lane closure regulated by three-way temporary traffic lights will operate throughout. Pedestrian access will be maintained via a dedicated route segregated from the work area. Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will also be maintained, and relevant stakeholders have been consulted to minimise disruption.
Richard Cook, BEAR Scotland's North West Bridges Manager, said: "This repair project is important to maintain the long-term integrity of the retaining wall supporting the A85 trunk road and adjacent footway at Cnoc Aruan. The works will ensure the continued safe use of this section of the trunk road network for both road users and pedestrians.
"Works have been planned to minimise disruption as far as possible and we thank the local community and road users in advance for their patience while these essential repairs are carried out."
