A programme of drainage improvements on the M90 between M9 Junction 1A and M90 Junction 2 will require a series of overnight slip road closures on weekday nights from Thursday 29 October to Friday 13 November 2026. Transport Scotland's operating company, BEAR Scotland, will carry out the works.
For safety, the following M9 and M90 slip roads will be closed between 20:00 and 06:00 on the dates listed, with diversions in place:
- 29 October, 1–2 November: M90 Junction 1B (Ferrytoll) northbound off-slip closed. Diversion via M90 north to turn at Junction 1C (Admiralty), then return south to exit at Junction 1B southbound off-slip.
- 3–5 November: M90 Junction 1B (Ferrytoll) northbound on-slip closed. Diversion via M90 south to turn at Junction 1A (Queensferry), then return north.
- 5 November: M90 Junction 1C (Admiralty) northbound off-slip closed. Diversion via M90 north to exit at Junction 2 (Masterton), follow the A823(M) to turn at Pitreavie Roundabout, rejoin the M90 southbound and exit at Junction 1C southbound off-slip.
- 6 November: M90 Junction 2 (Masterton) northbound on-slip closed. Diversion via M90 south to turn at Junction 1C (Admiralty), then return north.
- 9–12 November: M9 Junction 1A (Kirkliston) northbound off-slip closed. Diversion via M9 to turn at Junction 1B (Winchburgh), then return southbound to join the M90 via the M9 Junction 1A southbound off-slip.
- 13 November: M9 Junction 1A southbound off-slip closed. Diversion via M9 to turn at Junction 1 (Newbridge), then return northbound to join the M90 via the M9 Junction 1A northbound off-slip.
Traffic management will be removed during the daytime. Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to help minimise inconvenience.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "These ongoing works on the M90 will address defects in the road drainage system, creating safer journeys for motorists.
"It is essential for the safety of road workers and motorists that we close these slips roads during the works, however we've scheduled closures overnight in order to minimise any disruption.
"We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements."
