Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK has completed all 44 turbine foundations at the Sanquhar II Wind Farm, marking a major construction milestone for the £400 million project.
The CWP Energy-led scheme, which spans Dumfries and Galloway and East Ayrshire, will become the UK's fourth-largest wind farm once operational and is expected to supply electricity for more than 335,000 homes each year.
Working alongside Cambrian Services, Jones Bros carried out all concrete pours using an on-site batching plant. This approach reduced vehicle movements, fuel consumption and related emissions, while streamlining logistics.
Jones Bros senior contracts manager David Nicolson said: "The completion of all 44 turbine foundations, on time and on budget, marks the culmination of a substantial programme of civil engineering works.
"Delivering this successfully has depended on the expertise and commitment of our site teams, alongside effective planning and coordination throughout the construction process.
"Our on-site batching has helped us manage the demands of the foundation pours, improving efficiency and reducing vehicle movements associated with concrete deliveries.
"It's rewarding to reach this milestone and see the progress being made at Sanquhar II Wind Farm."
The completed bases have enabled installation of the UK's most powerful onshore wind turbine: the three-bladed V162-6.2MW EnVentus model, currently the only one of its kind installed in the country, designed to capture Southern Scotland's strong winds.
Turbine installation is under way, with first power expected in late 2026.
Rod Wood MBE, managing director of CWP Energy, said: "Reaching the final concrete pour is a significant milestone for the Sanquhar II Wind Farm project.
"With 44 turbine foundations now completed, it is testament to the hard work, expertise, and collaboration of everyone involved.
"We'd like to thank Jones Bros and all our project partners for their commitment in helping bring this important renewable energy scheme a step closer to completion."
Established in the 1950s, Jones Bros operates one of the UK's largest plant fleets and employs around 570 people. The contractor is delivering schemes nationwide across highways, flood and marine defence, reservoirs, waste management and renewable energy.
Its award-winning apprenticeship programme has produced a large share of its workforce, with several senior managers starting as apprentices or trainees, and has recruited hundreds of apprentices over the years.
