Second Daldowie Bioresource Consultation Announced For 19 August In Glasgow

Construction News Image

Scottish Water will hold a follow-up public drop-in on Wednesday 19 August to share plans for a multi-million-pound replacement of the Daldowie bioresource treatment plant, part of a drive to modernise services and cut carbon.

The event takes place at the Dogs Trust, 315 Hamilton Road, Glasgow, from 4.30pm to 7.30pm, giving residents an opportunity to learn more about the proposals, hear initial feedback gathered by the project team and ask questions.

The proposed investment would deliver a new, cutting-edge bioresource treatment centre on land beside the existing Daldowie facility. It would replace ageing assets with modern technology to treat bioresource from households across Scotland's Central Belt to a very high standard, while significantly improving carbon efficiency and reducing operating costs.

Scottish Water Project Lead, Fraser Simpson, said: "We held a very constructive consultation event around this project in June, which was well attended by the local community and this follow up event seeks to build on the feedback we received as part of that.

"This is one of the most significant investments Scottish Water has ever undertaken, and we would encourage anyone that is interested to come along to find out more about the proposals and share their views."

He added: "The new bioresource treatment centre at Daldowie will make a major contribution towards Scottish Water's net zero goals by dramatically reducing carbon emissions, generating renewable energy and producing a high-quality product that can be recycled to agricultural land."

A planning application is expected to be submitted later this year. Further information and an online feedback form are available at www.scottishwater.co.uk/daldowie, or by emailing [email protected].
