Environmental consultancy LUC has strengthened its Scottish Ecology Team with the appointment of Anita Hogan as Director of Ecology.

Hogan brings more than 22 years of experience in ecological consultancy across Scotland, Ireland and England, with expertise spanning ecological surveying, eco-protection planning, habitat management and project leadership.

She joined LUC in June 2026 from WSP, where she served as Regional Director leading the Scotland and Ireland nature services teams across four offices in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Prior to that, she spent a decade at Wood plc, specialising in onshore wind developments and large-scale linear infrastructure projects.

A Chartered Ecologist and Chartered Environmentalist, Hogan holds a number of protected species licences from NatureScot and Natural England. In 2025, she was recognised as an "unsung hero" in the ENDS Power List, which ranks the UK's 100 most influential environmental professionals, for her technical expertise and commitment to developing environmental professionals.

In her new role, Hogan will work alongside LUC's ecology, landscape, planning and historic environment teams on projects across Scotland and Northern Ireland. The consultancy's recent work includes the proposed Rivox Wind Energy Hub in Dumfries and Galloway, East Ayrshire Council's Local Nature Conservation Sites programme and a collaboration with the Northern Ireland Department for Education to support the modernisation of schools.

Anita said: "Having a positive outcome for people and nature and leaving the world in a better place is very important to me and I’m looking forward to working with LUC to do that.

"You can't have positive outcomes for nature within consultancy without a strong people-centred culture and I am passionate about supporting and encouraging all individuals equally. My decision to move to LUC was based on the alignment core values, and it feels like an auspicious time to join this proudly employee-owned company as they celebrate 60 years of independence and of achieving positive outcomes for people and nature."
