The JR Group has passed key construction milestones at its Reid Street development in Hamilton, where 24 new council homes are taking shape on the former St Cuthbert's Church site.
Delivered in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council, the project will provide a mix of one- and two-bedroom flats as well as two-bedroom mid-terraced and end-terraced houses, helping to meet local demand for high-quality, affordable homes. Completion is scheduled for early 2027. The properties have been designed to serve a range of housing needs, with several including features that improve accessibility for older residents and people with mobility challenges.
Recent weeks have seen significant advances on site. Timber kit frames for the apartment block have been erected, roofing works are well underway, and the terraced homes are now fully roofed with windows installed. New footpaths along Reid Street have also been completed, marking another step towards creating an attractive and accessible neighbourhood.
Alongside construction, The JR Group has maintained its focus on delivering social value by supporting community organisations across Lanarkshire.
The company recently donated equipment to Sparks Connection in Lanark, a community café charity that helps young neurodivergent people build confidence, independence and employability skills through barista and customer service training.
Paint and decorating supplies were also provided to the Veteran Community Hub in Craigneuk to support refurbishment ahead of the hub's community open day on 25 July, helping to create an improved space for veterans and residents.
Gary McGregor, Managing Director of The JR Group, said: "Reaching these construction milestones is an exciting moment for everyone involved in the Reid Street development. Seeing the project continue to take shape demonstrates the excellent progress being made and brings us another step closer to delivering high-quality new homes for the local community through our ongoing partnership with South Lanarkshire Council.
"At The JR Group, we're committed to creating a positive and lasting impact wherever we work. Delivering new homes is only one part of that commitment. We also believe in supporting the organisations and people that help communities thrive, and we're proud to have supported both Sparks Connection and the Veteran Community Hub as they continue their fantastic work across Lanarkshire.
"As construction progresses, we're looking forward to seeing the development transform this prominent site into a vibrant new neighbourhood that will benefit local people for many years to come."
Once complete, the Reid Street development will revitalise the former church site with 24 modern, energy-efficient council homes, supporting Hamilton's continued regeneration and expanding the supply of much-needed affordable housing across South Lanarkshire.
