A recruitment campaign has begun for the operational phase of the Inch Cape offshore wind farm, with applications now open for 10 new local roles.
Located 15 kilometres off the Angus coast in the North Sea, the project will be run from a new £6.5 million facility currently being built at the Port of Montrose.
More than 50 full-time jobs will be required to operate and maintain the wind farm, which is expected to be fully operational next year. Positions will be created both directly with Inch Cape and with turbine supplier Vestas, which holds a service warranty agreement for offshore turbine maintenance.
This first wave of Inch Cape roles covers engineering, health and safety, control room and management posts. Most will be office-based or hybrid, with offshore visits undertaken as needed using daily crew transfer vessels to the site.
Inch Cape Project Director John Hill said the new jobs will be central to the project's long-term success and represent a boost for the local area. He added: "Inch Cape is a world class gigawatt scale project and these roles provide a great opportunity for people to contribute to its success while gaining experience and developing their offshore wind careers with leading players in the industry."
Additional external providers will be engaged throughout the project's lifetime, with tenders for initial goods and services due later this year, bringing further local economic benefits.
The specific posts now being sought include: HSE, contracts & commercial, control room, and engineering managers; wind turbine generator, foundations & balance of plant, HV electrical and SCADA/communications engineers; planner/co-ordinator; and performance lead.
Vacancies are live on the project's website, major job boards and LinkedIn. Applications close in mid-August, with start dates from the autumn.
Further details are available via the project's vacancies page. Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm is owned by Inch Cape Offshore Limited, a 50/50 joint venture between ESB and Red Rock Renewables.
