Scottish Renewables, the representative body for Scotland's renewable energy industry, has announced today (13 July) that Angela Hepworth will become its next Chief Executive Officer.
Hepworth will join the organisation on 20 July and formally assume the CEO role on 31 July, succeeding Claire Mack OBE, who has led Scottish Renewables since 2017.
Bringing more than 20 years' experience across the civil service and industry, Hepworth has a strong track record in shaping UK energy policy and delivering low-carbon projects.
She arrives from Drax, where she served as Corporate Affairs Director and Commercial Director, leading work on low-carbon initiatives. Prior to that, she was Policy & Regulation Director at EDF UK, overseeing development of Sizewell C. Hepworth began her career at the Department for Trade & Industry, working on energy security and electricity market development.
Susie Lind, Chair of Scottish Renewables, said: "We are delighted to welcome Angela as our new CEO. Her proven track record in the energy sector, combined with her strategic insight into the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition, makes her the ideal new leader to guide Scottish Renewables.
"As we work to deliver a sustainable, secure and affordable energy future for Scotland, Angela's expertise will be invaluable in representing our members and driving the policy changes necessary to unlock further investment and innovation."
As CEO, Hepworth will lead the organisation's advocacy for Scotland's renewables sector, collaborating with government, industry and stakeholders to encourage investment and accelerate progress towards national clean energy goals.
Angela Hepworth, incoming CEO of Scottish Renewables, said: "I am honoured to be joining Scottish Renewables at such a transformative time for the energy sector. Scotland has already made remarkable progress in its renewable energy journey, but there is much more to be done to fully realise our potential.
"I look forward to working with the talented team at Scottish Renewables and our diverse membership base to champion the sector, overcome barriers and ensure that renewable energy continues to be the cornerstone of Scotland's economic and environmental future."
Claire Mack OBE will step down at the end of July to take up a new role at SSEN Transmission. Commenting on Claire's departure, Susie Lind added: "Claire has worked tirelessly over the past nine years to champion for the sector in Scotland. Under her leadership, Scottish Renewables has grown in impact and influence.
"We are very grateful for the commitment she has shown to the organisation and the sector, and wish her well as she takes on an exciting new position at SSEN Transmission."
