Round-the-clock closure from 13 to 16 July 2026 between Broomknowe Drive and Kilbagie Roundabout, with a signed diversion in place. Temporary traffic lights will then operate until 24 July 2026.
Works to complete drainage repairs on the A977 between Kincardine village and Kilbagie Roundabout will begin on Monday 13 July 2026. BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, will deliver the scheme.
For safety, the A977 between Broomknowe Drive and Kilbagie Roundabout will be closed in both directions 24 hours a day from 08:00 on Monday 13 July until 08:00 on Thursday 16 July 2026. After this, temporary traffic signals will remain in place until Friday 24 July 2026.
During the full closure, a diversion suitable for trunk road traffic will be signposted between Broomknowe Drive and Kilbagie Roundabout via the A977 through Kincardine village, the A985 over Kincardine Bridge, and the A876 over Clackmannanshire Bridge. This is expected to add around 5.9 miles and approximately 9 minutes to affected journeys.
Consultation has been carried out with stakeholders in advance to explain the traffic management arrangements and help minimise disruption.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "These works on the A977 between Kincardine and Kilbagie Roundabout will address and repair defects in the drainage network on a stretch of the trunk road that is susceptible to ponding during significant rainfall.
"It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway during these works; however we've scheduled them to be carried out during the school holidays, when it is anticipated that traffic flows will be lower than normal.
"If you need to use this route during the works, please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey. We thank road users for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements."
