Springfield Partnerships, part of The Springfield Group, has formally handed over 39 new affordable homes at Speyview, Aberlour, with Moray Council tenants already settling into their properties.
The development provides a mix of homes tailored to local need, including one-bedroom cottage flats, two-bedroom accessible bungalows designed for people with mobility needs, and family houses ranging from two to five bedrooms.
Among the new arrivals is 36-year-old Kyle, who has moved from an assisted living facility into one of the two-bedroom bungalows, gaining a degree of independence he has not previously had. Kyle's Mum explained: "It's a huge milestone for Kyle to get the keys to his own house. Its accessible layout and enclosed garden mean it's perfectly suited to Kyle's needs and will make life easier for his carers too.
"Aberlour is an ideal location, with family living locally and shops and services nearby. We're looking forward to spending lots of quality time with Kyle in his new home during this exciting new chapter in his life."
The homes are part of the Moray Growth Deal and funded by Moray Council and the Scottish Government through the £7.5 million Housing Mix Delivery project, which aims to deliver up to 300 affordable homes across Elgin, Forres, Speyside and the Buckie coastal area. Infrastructure delivered through this phase will also enable a second stage at Speyview, bringing a further 31 Council homes in winter 2026/27.
Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice and Housing, Shirley-Anne Somerville, said: "This project will have a hugely positive impact in the community, providing a mix of housing options for people who wish to live and work in the area. Supported by more than £5.3m grant funding from the Affordable Housing Supply Programme, these homes contribute to our commitment to deliver 110,000 affordable homes, of which at least 70% will be for social rent and 10% in our rural and island communities.
"Working with partners, such as Moray Council and Springfield Partnership, to deliver good quality housing is essential to attract and retain people in our communities and meet the objectives in our Rural and Islands Housing Action Plan."
Chair of Moray Council's Housing and Community Safety Committee, Cllr Amber Dunbar, said: "I'm delighted to see the first phase of the development complete and tenants enjoying their new homes in this fantastic community. The Springfield construction team and council project teams have played a key role in delivering our commitment to increase the number of affordable homes available in Moray and help ease the pressure on those trying to secure stable housing."
Springfield Partnerships Managing Director, Tom Leggeat, added: "We have a delivered more than a thousand homes across the region, many of which with Moray Council – including these high quality and energy efficient homes in Aberlour demonstrating the value of our long-standing relationship.
"It was gratifying to meet with Kyle, his family and support workers, to hear the positive impact his new home within Speyview will have for him going forward - serving as an important reminder of the importance of building new, quality homes for people who need them."
