Work has started on a 40-home council development in East Kilbride.
Located at Eaglesham View in Jackton, the scheme will provide a variety of two, three and four-bedroom family houses alongside two-bedroom cottage flats designed for older residents or people with mobility needs.
The homes are being delivered for South Lanarkshire Council by Barratt Homes West Scotland to meet a broad spectrum of local housing requirements. Funding is being provided jointly by the council and the Scottish Government's Affordable Housing Supply Programme.
To mark the beginning of construction, Councillor Davie McLachlan, Chair of the council's Housing and Technical Resources Committee, visited the site with council officials and representatives from Barratt Homes West Scotland.
Councillor McLachlan said: "I'm delighted that we are continuing to increase the number of high-quality affordable homes available across South Lanarkshire through developments just like this one.
"When complete, these homes will be a welcome addition to the council's housing stock."
Andy Curran, Managing Director, Barratt Homes West Scotland, said: "We're proud to be working in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council to deliver these much-needed new homes to Jackton at our development, Eaglesham View.
"At Barratt Homes West Scotland, we are committed to providing high-quality, sustainable housing that supports the needs of local communities across Scotland, both now and for future generations.
"This development will deliver a mix of homes designed to meet a range of housing needs, helping to create a well-connected and welcoming neighbourhood where people and families can enjoy living for many years to come."
The development is scheduled for completion in early 2027.
