Leading commercial property practice Ryden has announced the strategic appointment of Roddy Morrison as Partner within its Building Consultancy and Project Management division. Joining Ryden in a dual role, Mr Morrison brings significant industry experience following senior tenures at both CBRE and Turner & Townsend.
This appointment coincides with a period of notable expansion for Ryden's Building Consultancy and Project Management teams. The division now includes approximately 30 professionals across Scotland. This growth follows a 2025 partnership with Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH), which integrated three additional Partners—James Paterson, Fraser Ross, and Paul Lafferty—further enhancing the firm's technical capabilities across the Central Belt.
The Building Consultancy and Project Management teams currently account for roughly 30% of Ryden's total business. The division manages a diverse portfolio spanning office, industrial, leisure, and hotel sectors, alongside specialist services such as technical due diligence, acquisitions, and fit-outs. The firm is also expanding its presence in the public sector, including work for education providers and the NHS, as well as the healthcare, life sciences, and veterinary industries.
Significant recent projects for the firm include:
• Collaborating with Kadans Science Partner on the Health Innovation Hub in Glasgow.
• The completion of the Lucent development at 50 Bothwell Street.
• Extensive instructions regarding the refurbishment of city centre office buildings.
Colin Busby, Partner and Head of Building Consultancy at Ryden, said: "The continued growth of our team reflects the increasing demand we are seeing from clients for expert technical advice, strategic project delivery and commercially focused property solutions. Roddy's appointment further strengthens our project management capabilities and adds significant experience to an already highly skilled and collaborative building consultancy team. His expertise will support our growth ambitions, including opportunities across infrastructure, utilities and renewables."
He added: "Over the past decade, we have worked hard to build a market-leading team by investing in talented people, retaining expertise and ensuring we continue to deliver a partner-led service to our clients. While current market conditions remain challenging, we continue to see strong demand for our services and remain confident in the resilience of the Scottish property sector and the opportunities ahead."
In addition to its current projects, Ryden is addressing industry-wide challenges such as skills shortages and succession planning. The firm remains committed to the future of the profession through active graduate recruitment, training programmes, and apprenticeships.
