A significant infrastructure project valued at £600,000 is poised to transform the travel link between Grangemouth and Bo’ness.
The investment focuses on a comprehensive overhaul of both the lighting and pedestrian pathways along the entire corridor, aimed at boosting safety and accessibility for all users.
One of the most substantial corridor renewals in the region in recent years, the project will replace outdated street lighting with modern, energy-efficient lanterns. The existing life-expired lighting columns are to be swapped for durable aluminium units, a move designed to reduce the need for frequent maintenance in the future.
Beyond lighting, the work will address a long-standing gap in pedestrian infrastructure. Crews are scheduled to clear years of accumulated soil and vegetation from the verges to create sufficient space for a new, continuous asphalt footway. This addition will provide a formal, accessible route for those walking, wheeling, or cycling where no suitable path currently exists.
By constructing this missing link and upgrading the utility infrastructure, the Council aims to create a more resilient and safer environment for commuters and local residents. The project represents a long-term commitment to improving active travel options and ensuring the route remains easy to maintain for years to come.
