AC Whyte has appointed Jamie McLean as Operations Director to oversee its newly created Affordable Homes and New Build Division.
The move forms part of the company's growth strategy, strengthening its footprint in social housing and building on its reputation for quality, partnership working and delivery at scale.
McLean brings more than 37 years' experience in construction. He began as an apprentice joiner in 1988 and advanced through senior roles including General Foreman, Site Manager, Health & Safety Manager, Contracts Manager, Group Head of Construction and Operations Director. His portfolio includes delivering homes for local authorities, registered social landlords, Erskine Veterans and Homes for Heroes, as well as care home, retail and community projects. He also played a significant role in both the pre- and post-delivery phases of Glasgow's 2014 Commonwealth Games Athletes' Village.
He adds expertise in offsite manufacture, having managed a timber frame facility producing closed panels and bathroom pods. This experience reinforced his focus on modern methods of construction and innovative ways to address labour challenges, quality control and programme efficiency.
Speaking about his appointment, Jamie said: "My passion has always been for the people in the construction industry and what we can achieve together to improve our communities, everyone has an equally important role to play. I'm delighted to join AC Whyte at such a positive time for the company. The enthusiasm across the business is inspiring, and I look forward to driving this new division forward. Building on the strong performance of the teams and the excellent relationships AC Whyte has with clients, I'm confident we can play a meaningful role in delivering high-quality homes and creating places where people love to live."
The new division has been developed as part of AC Whyte's long-term plan for sustainable growth. It will open up fresh opportunities, deepen partnerships and support the delivery of modern, energy-efficient homes across Scotland. McLean's track record, leadership and commitment to quality will be central to shaping the division and ensuring its success, and AC Whyte said it looks forward to the positive impact his expertise will bring as the company continues to grow, diversify and deliver for clients and communities.
