Taylor Wimpey Secures Planning Consent New Housing In Dunfermline

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has confirmed a key step forward in the delivery of the new Whitefields neighbourhood in Dunfermline, having received an Approval of Matters Specified in Conditions (AMSC) detailed planning consent from Fife Council for the construction of the first 68 new homes.

Planning Permission in Principle (PPiP) was previously secured for the wider Whitefields masterplan, and this initial phase, named Whitefield Gardens, will feature an extensive mix of two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom homes designed to appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers. The development will incorporate a unique character seating area that includes the original dated lintel from the historical Wester Whitefields farmhouse, acknowledging the site's heritage. Micro-play areas will also be provided to encourage informal outdoor play for residents.

Infrastructure works, both on-site and off-site, are already well advanced at Whitefields, and the construction of new homes at Whitefield Gardens is scheduled to commence in the coming weeks.

As the Whitefields masterplan progresses, it is set to bring considerable benefits to the local community, including:

- The creation of approximately 1,400 new properties, offering a mix of apartments, detached, semi-detached, and terraced homes.

- The provision of a new primary school.

- Dedicated space for shops and community facilities.

- The inclusion of affordable homes within the development.

- New cycleways and pedestrian footpaths to promote green, active travel and connect with existing local communities.

- Key transport infrastructure improvements to Kingseat Road (West) and Whitefield Road (B912).

- Incorporation of the new Northern Link Road, complete with pedestrian crossings, to provide a safe route to schools.

- Meadow grasslands and two equipped play areas, offering future homeowners access to green open spaces to encourage healthy and sustainable living.

- Measures to enhance biodiversity for local wildlife, including features such as bug hotels and hedgehog highways.

Pauline Mills, Technical Director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, expressed her satisfaction with the progress: "We are delighted to have secured our first AMSC planning consent for new homes at Whitefield Gardens and to continue making good progress in the significant preparations required to create our vision for the Whitefields neighbourhood."

She concluded by highlighting the scope of the project: "With the delivery of around 1,400 new homes, the creation of significant new infrastructure and improvements to existing transport links, as well as substantial community benefits, Whitefields is a brand-new community and place to call home in North Dunfermline."
