Alliance Leisure Services Limited has scooped a construction contract to develop a new £1 million active play facility at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley.
The attraction will include a TAG Active arena designed to test strategy, speed, agility and bravery, with players using wristband sensors to collect points by tagging lights positioned around a climbing maze.
Features will include tunnels, crawl spaces, a cargo-climb maze, giant inflatable balls and climbing frames, creating a vibrant environment aimed at promoting fitness, fun and friendly competition.
There will be a dedicated area for babies and toddlers with interactive toys, slides and ramps, dangly snakes and bashbags, balance boxes and giant building cubes. A separate free-play zone will also offer chutes, slides and climbing frames.
The venue will support visitors with additional support needs through a sensory area featuring interactive panels, beanbags and mirrors within a colourful imagination zone.
Parents and carers will benefit from a spacious seating area with clear views of the main play zones, alongside an extended café. A new party room will also host birthdays and special events.
Councillor Lisa-Marie Hughes, Chair of OneRen, said: "I can't wait for work to start on this fantastic new facility in Paisley."
"We recognise how important it is for families to have play opportunities for their children, as well the chance to socialise with friends or other parents and carers, and this new active play will provide this right in the heart of the town."
"In addition to the slides and equipment you would expect to see in a traditional soft play, there is a TAG arena which we know young people will love and we wanted to ensure there is provision for those with additional support needs too which is why there is a dedicated sensory area."
The facility scheduled to open in late summer 2026.
