The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has launched a consultation to identify and address the root causes of poor mental health within the UK construction sector.
CLC said that the urgency of the initiative is highlighted by statistics showing that the suicide rate in the sector is currently four times the national average.
The consultation, which is open until Wednesday, 5 November 2025, seeks views from across the industry and follows a series of workshops led by the CLC in partnership with Mates in Mind and the University of Warwick. These workshops explored the main factors contributing to the issue and how they might be reduced or eliminated.
The consultation forms part of the CLC’s wider Health, Safety and Wellbeing Strategy. Once responses have been gathered, the CLC plans to publish an action plan with guidance in Spring 2026, setting out practical steps that businesses and leaders can take to help tackle the issue.
The NFRC is encouraging all its Members to participate, stating that their insights will help shape an industry-wide action plan to improve wellbeing for everyone working in roofing and construction.
