Cali Décor Completes Six-Restaurant Redecoration Project

Lanarkshire-based Cali Décor has just completed a six-restaurant redecoration project for leading Glasgow restaurant chain, La Vita Group, and all within the venues' working hours.

"It was vital that the redecoration took place in segregated areas while guests continued to be accommodated throughout the six restaurants' opening hours and would not be put off their delicious Italian fare," said Cali Decor, MD, Chris Meechan.

"And so, as we are doing increasingly, we used odour-free water-based material rather than oil-based paints which contain solvents to aid application and drying, but emit harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs), chemicals that evaporate into the air and form greenhouse gases.

"VOCs create that distinctive new-paint smell and prolonged exposure to high levels can cause irritation, headaches, nausea and allergic reactions. Nowadays, water-based paints are just as good and just as durable as oil-based and go a long way to improving indoor air quality."

La Vita Group's six breakfast, lunch and dining rooms – La Vita Pizza, in George Square, Bishopbriggs and the East End’s Barrachnie, Sputini in Byres Road and Gordon Street, and Piccolino e Vino in Newton Mearns, all do great business, so providing food of the highest standard to both regular and new guests is a top priority.

Owned and run by father and son team, Mario and Marco Arcari, and employing over 170 staff, La Vita Group was established in 1999 and has had great success in catering to Glasgow’s yearning for high quality Italian cuisine.

Mario said: "We undertake regular re-decoration of all our restaurants to keep them in top condition but we are in a competitive market and we are not prepared to close our doors when we do so.

"We chose Cali Decor to undertake the work because we know and trust Chris because he and his team always do exactly what they say they will do.

"He knew we could not tolerate the traditional smell of fresh paint while our guests were at table and his water-based paint solution got the job done quickly and efficiently with most of our guests barely aware that the Cali Decor team was on the job."
