Residents in Kinross are being urged to have their say on proposals that could transform a prominent brownfield site near the town centre.
Housebuilder Cala Homes (East) will hold the first of two consultation events on Wednesday, September 17, setting out early designs for the former car auction yard at Bridgend.
The 9.3-acre site, located close to Loch Leven and the High Street, has been identified as "white land" in the Local Development Plan, meaning it is suitable for a variety of uses, including housing.
The consultation follows Cala's submission of a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN), which formally begins the statutory engagement process. A second consultation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, at Loch Leven Community Campus. Both sessions will run from 3.30pm to 8.30pm.
Cala is exploring options for around 95 homes on the site, with a quarter earmarked as affordable housing. The designs include gas-free properties with EV charging points, while the wider scheme will incorporate the company's biodiversity strategy and measures to support sustainable living.
Alasdair Hughes, Senior Land Manager with Cala Homes (East), said: "This project is a great opportunity to revitalise a disused brownfield site, while delivering new sustainable homes that meet local needs.
"We want to meet with local people and hear their views on our development proposals as they take shape.
"These events are a vital part of the planning process, and I'd encourage everyone with an interest in the site to come along and make their voice heard."
In addition to housing, the plans highlight potential improvements to infrastructure, including safer active travel links between the High Street and the Loch Leven car park. Cala is also considering a Community Pledge initiative, developed in partnership with local groups, which could provide extra funding for community, educational and environmental projects.
Feedback from the consultation will be reviewed before any planning application is lodged later this year. Full details of the evolving proposals will be published on Cala’s project website following the first event.
