The Douglas Valley Advisory Group (DVAG), a community group set up to direct large-scale, strategic investment proposals in the local area, is looking for community members from Muirkirk to join the group.
The DVAG was established in 2023 and represents several settlements, including Muirkirk, to help inform decisions that will affect the wider community.
Facilitated by South Lanarkshire Council and working in partnership with East Ayrshire Council, the DVAG was formed following the creation of the Hagshaw Energy Cluster Development Framework. The framework sets out a vision for a strategic and collaborative approach to renewable energy development and identifies opportunities to help achieve a Just Transition to Net Zero.
Councillor Graham Barton, East Ayrshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Planning, welcomed the initiative and said that "local community involvement in planning decisions is crucial to successful development." He added that the best people to help shape a future green economy are those who "live and work locally."
Applications are encouraged from any community member and should be sent by email in under 300 words to [email protected] by 9am on Monday, 22 September.
