Six community projects across Angus are set to receive a combined total of £490,605 in funding to strengthen local services and amenities. The investment, which was approved on Tuesday, 2 September, is aimed at driving economic recovery, increasing local resilience, and accelerating community-led regeneration.

The money comes from the final year of the Scottish Government Place-Based Investment Programme (PBIP) and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Both funds are designed to support projects that align with local community priorities and have clear long-term viability.

The successful projects include:

• Montrose Community Trust: Awarded £114,325 for the Gable End Development, a £1.6 million project to create a community facility for physical and mental health programmes, as well as employability and skills development.

• ProMo - Montrose Development and Improvement CIC: Awarded £68,675 to renovate and repurpose two properties in Montrose town centre into spaces that support local enterprise and economic growth.

• Westmuir Hall Committee: Awarded £4,321 for a larger refurbishment project to create a resilience centre for the rural community, which will also improve the building’s energy efficiency.

• Strathmore Cricket Club: Awarded £62,305 to upgrade its buildings and make them fully accessible, supporting the club's wider community initiatives.

• Sustainable Kirriemuir: Awarded £78,398 to transform a property at 19 Bank Street into a vibrant, multi-use community space that will also provide secure storage for the organisation's electric bicycle fleet.

• Forfar Open Gardens: Awarded £162,581 to relocate to a new site and transform a disused garage area into a community asset with a Forest Nature School learning space and a flexible, all-season workroom.
