Fourteen businesses have been appointed to a new framework that will enable them to deliver critical public sector infrastructure across Scotland.

The £80 million Modular Buildings framework (MB3), led by the Scottish Procurement Alliance (SPA), will provide vital solutions for public bodies, including supporting education and healthcare services. The appointments come at a crucial time as RAAC-related disruption continues to highlight the urgent need for fast, safe, and high-quality building solutions.

Lesley Peaty, Regional Director at SPA, said the framework offers a "fast and responsive service", giving public bodies access to high-quality suppliers to react swiftly to emergencies, refurbishments, or growing populations without sacrificing quality. She explained that the framework is a "practical and reliable solution for Scotland's public sector" in the face of pressures from ageing infrastructure and rising demand. The framework, which runs until 2029, replaces its predecessor MB2 and is designed to cut build times, reduce disruption, and enhance sustainability.

The list of appointed suppliers includes Algeco UK Ltd, Healthmatic, Integra Buildings Ltd, McAvoy Modular Offsite, and Portakabin Ltd, among others. The framework allows public bodies to procure works and services with flexibility, either through direct award or mini-competition. Lesley Peaty added that this flexibility is already having an impact by "keeping classrooms open, supporting stretched healthcare services, and helping community spaces expand their capacity."

The SPA's Community Benefit Fund, which has invested over £1.1 million into more than 100 community initiatives, is also expected to expand its reach through the framework. SPA currently oversees close to 700 live projects with a combined value of £1.1bn.
