Three of Fife's parks have been recognised with the internationally renowned Green Flag Award, celebrating excellence in park management and environmental standards.

Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy, Letham Glen in Leven, and Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline have all been awarded the status, which is considered the benchmark of quality for parks and green spaces around the world.

The Green Flag Award is granted annually to sites that meet stringent criteria covering maintenance, community involvement, sustainability and accessibility.

Fife Council spokesperson, Councillor Altany Craik, said: "This is really great news for Fife. These parks hold a special place in the hearts of many Fifers and I'm very proud that they have been recognised with these Internationally recognised awards. This clearly demonstrate the council’s commitment to providing and maintaining parks and open spaces for the recreation and wellbeing of everyone. They are free for us all to use and the recent spell of good weather has seen many people spending time enjoying parks and open spaces.
