Demolition work on the former Carden School building in Dyce have gotten underway today, Monday, 7 July 2025. The site, last actively used as a school in 2010, has been declared surplus to requirements and must be taken down due to ongoing health and safety concerns.
During the demolition period, the adjacent Library and Community Hub will maintain normal operating hours. However, pedestrian access through the school site from Gordon Terrace to Central Park will be restricted for safety reasons. Access to the car park off Gordon Terrace will also see limitations while work is underway, though car parks on the other side of the site will remain unaffected.
Demolition activities will take place from Monday to Friday, between 08:00 and 16:30. No work is planned for weekends or public holidays.
The site of the former school is designated within the Local Development Plan, which allows for future consideration of the site's potential redevelopment and use once cleared.
