Construction firm GRAHAM has been appointed by Unite Students to deliver a £124.5 million purpose-built student accommodation development in Glasgow, which will provide 934 student beds by the start of the 2027/28 academic year.

Construction activity is already underway at the site, with piling works in progress. A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held to mark the milestone, attended by representatives from GRAHAM Building North and Unite Students.

The new development, known as Central Quay, is being built on a brownfield site near the University of Glasgow’s main campus in the city's West End. The area, which had been awaiting regeneration, was acquired by Unite Students in November 2024 and is now set to be transformed into a vibrant student living hub.

Once completed, the Central Quay project will increase Unite Students’ total number of beds in Glasgow to 3,200.

Residents of the new development will benefit from a wide range of facilities including a café, yoga room, gym, multiple study spaces, and a garden terrace. The scheme also includes outdoor recreational space that will be available to both students and the local community.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the development aims to achieve BREEAM Excellent certification, setting a high benchmark for environmentally responsible construction and operation.

Gary Holmes, Regional Managing Director at GRAHAM Building North, said: "We are delighted to be working with Unite Students at Central Quay and to further strengthen our longstanding partnership."
