Plans have been revealed to transform the historic A-listed Victorian Collectors Hall in Glasgow City Centre into a stunning multi-million pound events space. The restoration is part of the ongoing £100m Love Loan development and will be incorporated into the 240+ room AC Hotel by Marriott Glasgow on George Street.
The Collectors Hall, located within the former Parish Halls building off George Square, will be sensitively restored, retaining period features while blending historic charm with modern elegance. The versatile space will accommodate 120 seated guests and 200 standing, catering to a wide range of events from weddings and galas to exhibitions and product launches.
"The Collectors Hall is an extraordinary space, rich in Glasgow's history that has lain dormant for some time," said Craig Munro, General Manager of AC Hotel Glasgow. "We're bringing it back to life as a premier venue for everything from corporate events to weddings, product launches to film premieres."
The venue will boast a dedicated private entrance on George Street, state-of-the-art AV and lighting, a canopied courtyard, an exclusive bar, cloakroom, restrooms, and a private dining space for up to 14 guests. A striking glazed canopy will be a central feature of the main hall.
"Restoration and preservation of some of Glasgow's history have been central to AC Hotel Glasgow, and this project is about more than just creating an events space, it's about celebrating Glasgow's heritage while delivering a first-class venue," added Munro.
The Collectors Hall is expected to host over 200 events annually, creating 20-30 new jobs. A new kitchen, led by Executive Chef John-Paul Giraud, will provide an exceptional dining experience. The venue aims to attract high-profile international events, working with organisations like Glasgow Life to enhance Glasgow's reputation as a premier destination.
"We see this as an opportunity for AC Hotel Glasgow and the city as a whole," said Munro. "There's nothing else like this – a historic event space with luxury accommodation attached. It strengthens Glasgow's ability to host world-class events and enhances its global appeal, and that's something to get excited about."
The Love Loan developers, the Chris Stewart Group, have already commenced work on the transformation.
