Shetland Islands Council is once again seeking the input of local residents on a range of community issues as part of the 'Our Place – Your Say' project.

The project, which was last conducted in 2016, aims to gather public opinion on 15 key themes, including transport, housing, community safety, and local facilities and services.

The new survey will utilise the Place Standard Tool, a nationally recognised framework for assessing places, considering both physical and social elements.

"We're keen to hear from residents on their views of their local community and on all the elements of the place where they live," said Emma Macdonald, Leader of Shetland Islands Council. "The Place Standard tool allows us to capture really valuable details, which will help the Council to better plan improvements in local areas."

Data collected from the previous survey, which received responses from over 900 people, has already informed planning decisions by the Council, NHS Shetland, ZetTrans, and other members of the Shetland Partnership.

The findings of the new survey will also support the development of Local Place Plans, which are community-led initiatives that outline proposals for local development and land use.
