Construction Underway On New Social Housing Development

Construction has officially commenced on a new 24-unit social housing development on Butterbiggins Road in Govanhill, Glasgow.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by John Quinn, Director, and Alan McDonald, Head of Development & Property Services from Govanhill Housing Association, along with Danny McKibbens, Operations Director at Clark Contracts, the main contractor for the project.

The five-storey complex will comprise nine three-bedroom apartments, ten two-bedroom apartments, and five one-bedroom apartments, including accessible flats.

"We are delighted to break ground on another much-needed development in Govanhill," said Audrey Flannagan, tenant and vice chair of Govanhill Housing Association. "The City of Glasgow is currently grappling with an acute housing emergency, there is no doubt about the level of housing need in the area."

"We are looking forward to collaborating with new customer, Govanhill Housing Association on this residential development, which will provide further much needed affordable housing in the Govanhill community," said Danny McKibbens, Operations Director at Clark Contracts.

The development will feature designated parking spaces and incorporate energy-efficient design principles.

This project marks a significant step towards addressing the ongoing housing needs within the Govanhill community.

Clark Contracts begins work on 24 new homes for Govanhill Housing Association

Construction has officially commenced on a new social housing development on Butterbiggins Road in Govanhill.

The project, undertaken by Clark Contracts for Govanhill Housing Association, will deliver 24 energy-efficient homes, including nine three-bedroom apartments, ten two-bedroom apartments, and five one-bedroom apartments, along with designated parking spaces.

"We are delighted to break ground on another much-needed development in Govanhill," said Audrey Flannagan, tenant and vice chair of Govanhill Housing Association. "The City of Glasgow is currently grappling with an acute housing emergency, and there is no doubt about the level of housing need in the area."

Clark Contracts has already completed the site enabling works on the previously derelict site.

"We are looking forward to collaborating with new customer, Govanhill Housing Association on this residential development, which will provide further much-needed affordable housing in the Govanhill community," said Danny McKibbens, Operations Director at Clark Contracts. "This is the second project our dedicated Housing Division are delivering and joins £30m of residential developments we have delivered in recent years."

This development will contribute to addressing the significant housing needs within the Govanhill community.
