The Highland Council has announced the commencement of footway improvement works on Culloden Road (B9006) in Inverness.

Chair of the Economy and Infrastructure Committee and Ward Councillor, Ken Gowans, welcomed the start of the project: "I welcome the start of these works and over the project of improvement works we will be working closely with the contractor to keep disruption to a minimum."

The works will focus on improving active travel options by widening the footway on the north side of Culloden Road between the junctions of Caulfield Road and Tower Road. This will involve removing sections of roadside cobbles and grass verges and replacing them with tarmac.

Furthermore, the project will enhance road crossing points on the south side of Culloden Road to improve access to the north side path. This will include the installation of drop kerbs, tactile paving, and surface repairs.

Work is is expected to last for up to eight weeks. Pat Munro Ltd has been appointed as the contractor and will be responsible for the works and all pedestrian/traffic management.
