East Dunbartonshire Council has initiated a public consultation on its proposed Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES) and Delivery Plan. The strategy aims to contribute to Scotland's statutory targets for reducing fuel poverty and achieving net zero emissions.
The LHEES encompasses both domestic and non-domestic properties and addresses the following key areas:
• Outlining the necessary changes in the building stock to meet national objectives, including tackling fuel poverty and achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions.
• Identifying "heat decarbonisation zones" and outlining strategies to reduce building emissions in each zone, as well as potential heat network zones.
• Prioritising areas within East Dunbartonshire to align with local and national priorities.
The LHEES consultation is open from Tuesday, October 1st to Tuesday, October 29th, 2024. Participants are encouraged to review the proposals and complete a short online survey.
Additionally, an online consultation event will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Those interested in attending can register on the consultation webpage.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Gordan Low said: "We are encouraging everyone who lives or operates a business in East Dunbartonshire to take part in the LHEES consultation. We are also very keen to hear from landlords and housing associations.
"It important this strategy is achievable and meets our local priorities as well as those set out at a national level so please take some time to read the proposals and complete the survey or register to attend our online event later this month where you can ask questions and share your thoughts with Council Officers."
