Annual dinner of the Scottish Plant Owners Association raises £5,000 for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity

Members of the Scottish Plant Owners Association (SPOA) came together earlier this month at its annual dinner and raised £5,000 for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity.

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to members of the construction community and their families.

John Sibbald, President of the SPOA, was delighted to see the Annual Dinner so well attended and the generosity of members in supporting the chosen charity: "The dinner was a real success. x guests from across the industry came together to enjoy good company, great food and excellent entertainment. I’d like to thank our platinum sponsor Hilti for its support in making this a truly memorable event.

"The SPOA was delighted to welcome Nicola Campbell from the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity as a guest and to witness firsthand the appreciation members have for the great work the charity has been doing to support our members and their families, not least in its Make It Visible campaign.

"The Annual Dinner is always an opportunity to celebrate success, resilience and collaboration within the Scottish plant industry as well as an opportunity to recognise and reward the future of our industry with our Apprenticeship Awards. 2023 was another momentous year for the Association and we are looking forward to a successful 2024."

Comedian Des Clarke did not disappoint as the compère and entertainment for the evening, and guests were delighted that the SPOA’s ‘Machine on a mission’ - the Police Scotland livered JCB 3CX, generously loaned by Scot JCB, had made a pitstop at the Glasgow Hilton.

Speaking about the event, Paul D’Ambrosio, Key Account Manager at Hilti, said: "We were proud to be platinum sponsors of the SPOA’s Annual Dinner. It was a great opportunity to support the event and we look forward to working more closely with the SPOA in the future."

Nicola Campbell, Regional Ambassador at the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, added: "I was honoured to be invited, on behalf  as a guest of the SPOA to celebrate with members at its Annual Dinner and encourage awareness for the Charity. It was a fabulous event and all at the Lighthouse Club are extremely grateful to the SPOA for this generous donation."
