SSEN Transmission has released a video to showcase the successful delivery of a 120 tonne static compensator transformer unit at their Alyth substation.
The transformer is one of the largest components of the 275/400kV substation project, and plays a key role in enabling and managing the flow of energy through the substation and overall network, helping to accommodate increased renewable energy generation from across the north of Scotland.
The highly complex delivery followed nearly two years of planning by SSEN Transmission and their principal contractor Siemens BAM.
In the video below, you can see how SSEN Tansmission and Siemens BAM worked with specialist haulier Allelys to safely deliver the transformer from Dundee Quay to its final location at Alyth substation.
