BEAR Scotland has announced that a £680,000 programme of road surface improvement works on the A90 southbound in Dundee will get underway on Thursday 16 June.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the southbound section of the A90 between Myrekirk and Swallow roundabouts, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Thursday 16 June and is expected to take place over one week. Works are planned to take place consecutively where possible, with all works expected to be complete by 6am Thursday 23 June, subject to weather conditions.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.


Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland's North East Unit Representative, said: "This £680,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90 Kingsway, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

"The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists during this project. To help minimise delays as much as possible, we've planned the contraflow system to be in operation over the weekend period and programmed work to take place consecutively where possible to limit the timescale of the project.

"Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible. We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination."

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
