Surfacing Improvement Works On A82 Announced

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland's operating company, has announced surfacing improvement works on the A82 north of Fort William.

The project will improve around one kilometre of the A82 near Lochybridge Roundabout, creating a smoother and safer journey for road users of this section of the A82.

The overnight works are scheduled to begin on Sunday 26 September and are expected to take eight nights to complete. The project will take place between 8pm and 6am each night with all works due to be completed by 6am on Wednesday 6 October, subject to weather conditions. No works are planned for Friday and Saturday nights.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and road users, a 10mph convoy system and three-way temporary traffic lights will be in place whilst works are being undertaken. Traffic management will be removed during the daytime, however a temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in place as road users will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland's North West Representative said: "The planned re-surfacing of the A82 to the north of Fort William will address defects and greatly improve the condition of the carriageway at this location for road users.

"The traffic management proposed is essential to ensure the safety of our teams and road users alike, however we have taken steps to minimise disruption as much as possible by carrying out the work at night.

"We thank road users for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information."
