Improvement works to upgrade Renfrewshire's roads network is well underway as more than 250 roads and footways are planned for investment during 2021/22.

Renfrewshire Council's £8million investment this year forms part of a £47m six-year investment in its roads network.

The programme also captures projects from 2020 which were delayed due to the restrictions in place during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Councillor Cathy McEwan, Convener of Renfrewshire Council's Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, visited the works at Dean Park Road in Renfrew and outlined the Council's commitment to providing a safe roads network.

Renfrew Councillor McEwan said: "We recognise how important our roads network is for those who live, work and visit Renfrewshire which is why we've made this record investment to improve and upgrade our roads and footways.

"The £8million invested this year will take us to a record more than £30million investment in our roads network over the past four years.

"We recognise that providing a safe surface for our drivers is vital, but also for our cyclists and pedestrians as the pandemic continues to encourage more people to walk and cycle instead of using their cars.

"There is a noticeable difference in the quality of our roads network and that it's improving year-on-year and I'm looking forward to seeing the latest investment continue this improvement."
