M8 Closures To Facilitate Essential Water Main Repairs

Transport Scotland have announced that the M8 westbound carriageway between Junction 8 Baillieston and Junction 10 Easterhouse will be closed between 8 PM and 6 AM today, Thursday 26 September 2019.

The closure is to allow Scottish Water to undertake urgent repair works to a water main under Westerhouse Road bridge. The overnight closure is necessary to facilitate access to the water main and ensure the safety of both road users and road workers.

A signed diversion will be in place via Junction 8 Baillieston - take the second exit from Baillieston Roundabout to A8 Edinburgh Road, to Wellhouse Road and re-join the M8 at Junction 10 Easterhouse.

A signed diversion will also be in place for road users travelling from the M73 northbound and the A8 westbound wishing to join the M8 at Junction 8 Baillieston.

Road users are advised to plan your journey in advance and allow extra time to get to your destination.
