A series of street improvements are to begin in Kirkwall town centre.

The works will involve paving outside the front of the TSB, before progressing to the area in front of Foubister and Bain.

A temporary one-way system has already been put in place in the top half of Castle Street, between the exit from the car park and the junction with Broad Street, to facilitate the works. A further system will be introduced in Broad Street.

The project is part of Kirkwall Townscape Initiative's (KTHI) Place and Spaces project.

It will begin at the top of Castle Street and the bottom of the Strynd.
