Paisley-based Clark Contracts has been appointed to build a new 208-bed hotel in Southampton.

The Moxy Hotel facility will be built on the city's Harbour Parade, facing the West Quay Shopping Centre.

Work began in January this year and the hotel is scheduled to open in mid-2019.

The project follows on from Clark Contract's earlier successful appointment to work on the 230-bed Moxy Hotel near Edinburgh Airport, scheduled for opening late 2018.

Currently under construction, the five-star hotel is located on a former golf driving range, part of the Royal Highland showground and a key element in the Royal Highland Society's masterplan for re-development of the showground site.
