Road realignment and surfacing works are to begin along the B979 Netherley Road in Aberdeenshire.

A section of the road between the new A90 southbound slip road and the Mains of Ury Junction will be closed from 8pm on Friday, 19 January until 6am on Monday, 22 January.

The scheme, which is part of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) project, will allow the contractor to realign the A90 northbound slip roads and carry out surfacing works as it continues to build the roundabout which will form part of the new Stonehaven Junction. Diversions will be in place.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: "The contractor has been working closely with Police Scotland and the local authorities to ensure anyone who needs to use this section of the B979 Netherley Road this weekend has a viable alternative available to them, while enhancing the safety of road users and road workers.

"These works have been planned to take place at a time when traffic will be quieter to help minimise the impact they may have on road users. However, road users who would normally use this route should plan their journeys in advance so that they can reach their destination safely and on time."
