Causeway Geotech has secured a new supplementary ground investigation contract for the £30 million A77 Maybole Bypass project.

The works will provide prospective bidders with more detailed information to enable them to bid competitively for the main contract, which involves building a 5km bypass and associated junctions.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: "The ground investigation work is needed to complete important information gathering on the existing ground conditions along the preferred route to progress our plans to construct a bypass around Maybole.

"This contract award brings us another step closer to delivering improvements for the local community and road users, including those travelling longer distances to the key ports of Stranraer and Cairnryan."
