Local residents are being invited to have their say on a draft open space strategy for Moray.
Councillors recently approved the draft document which sets out how to help protect and promote open space in the region, such as public parks, play spaces, sports areas, woodland and green corridors.
It will provide a strategic vision for the provision, development, maintenance and management of open space across Moray, with the exception of the area covered by the Cairngorms National Park.
In addition, the strategy will be used by the local authority when making planning decisions which impact on open space, and by developers to guide the provision of open space in new developments. A recent audit of main population centres revealed over 90% of homes are within 400 metres of an open space.
An eight-week consultation will begin on Monday, 06 March. Once the document is returned to electing members for final approval, it will become a material consideration in determining planning applications.
